Job summary

Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) seeks a Transportation Materials Technician 2 for the Materials Testing Laboratory in Rocky Hill, CT. The role focuses on inspection and testing of asphalt materials used in transportation facilities, supporting MESU operations.

The position is full-time, first shift, on-site at the Rocky Hill lab, with opportunities for professional growth and development within a state-awarded agency.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience in chemical and/or physical testing, analysis, or inspection of construction or maintenance materials including independent performance of tests such as extraction gradation, slump and air content for cement and concrete cylinder tests.
• College training in natural sciences, construction technology, civil engineering or other related fields may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years for an Associate's degree.
• For state employees one (1) year of experience in materials testing at the level of a Transportation Technician may be substituted for the General Experience.

THE ROLE

In this role you will assist the Transportation Materials Technician 3 within the Material Evaluation and Specification Unit (MESU), asphalt mixture area, regarding inspection and testing of materials and structures used in the construction of transportation facilities. Additionally, you will be responsible for testing and inspection of asphalt mixtures and their components.

PLEASE NOTE

This posting may be used to fill other Transportation Materials Technician 2 positions as needed. Other related roles and responsibilities will be assigned as needs of the Unit and section in the Materials Testing Laboratory.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

College training in natural sciences, construction technology, civil engineering or other related fields may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years for an Associate's degree.
