Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for transportation and GDP topics across the Americas.
• Investigate transportation incidents; lead root cause/CAPA and close actions; support audits.

Transportation Specialist (Global Transportation Manager) – The Americas

Location: Thousand Oaks, CA (Remote – U.S.; any time zone)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours

Compensation: Open Market Rate (based on experience)

Overview

Join a big biopharma leader as the Transportation Specialist (Global Transportation Manager) for the Americas. You’ll lead relationships with Transportation Service Providers, drive supplier performance, and develop/maintain GDP-compliant, cost-effective transportation strategies across air, ocean, and road—applying continuous improvement to strengthen service, compliance, and cost.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead supplier relationships for assigned carriers; run performance/business reviews and resolve escalations
• Design, implement, and sustain transportation solutions (air/ocean/road), including cold chain; maintain procedures and documentation
• Analyze SAP TM (or similar) data to identify trends, risks, and improvements; establish and track KPIs
• Serve as subject matter expert for transportation and GDP topics across the Americas
• Investigate transportation incidents; lead root cause/CAPA and close actions; support audits and regulatory requests

Qualifications

Key Skills (Must-Haves):

• Analytical strength with advanced Excel; ability to turn data into actions
• Cross-functional project management across departments/geographies; works independently under pressure
• Supplier relationship leadership with carriers/3PLs; strong negotiation and communication

Required Experience & Skills:

• 5+ years in logistics/transportation/supply chain, including supplier/vendor management
• Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management; stable tenure history preferred
• TMS familiarity (e.g., SAP TM) a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree preferred (logistics/engineering or related); pharma/biotech or other logistics-heavy industry experience
• GDP/GMP knowledge; Operational Excellence tools (Six Sigma, FMEA)
• Experience with SLAs, BW/analytics tools, and technical writing
