Qualifications

• 3-5 years' experience as a transportation manager is preferred.
• Prior CDL A experience preferred.
• Able to conduct safety audits and meetings.

Job description

Our Pet Segment is searching for a Transportation Manager in our Hamilton, NJ location. Plans, organizes, directs, manages, evaluates, and is responsible for the operations of the transportation department. The Transportation Manager will be essential in assisting the Warehouse Manager.

Measures of Success

• Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicle fleets.
• Plan, organize, and manage the daily work of delivery drivers to ensure the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements.
• Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer or vendor complaints.
• Serve as contact person for all drivers within assigned territories.
• Conduct quarterly safety meetings with drivers.
• Collaborate with other managers and staff members to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
• Monitor operations to ensure staff compliance with policies, safety rules, and regulations.
• Promote safe work activities through safety audits and meetings.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Work extended hours as needed.

Ideal Candidate Attributes

• High School Diploma required; college degree preferred.
• Prior CDL A experience preferred but not required.
• 3-5 years’ prior experience as transportation manager.
• Strong knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills.
• Effective team-building skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize, manage conflicts, and maintain employee relations.

Position Information

• Salary range: $85,000 - $95,000, depending on experience.
