Job summary

Commerce City is seeking a Transportation Network Manager to lead traffic engineering and transportation planning, ensuring MUTCD compliance, traffic signal operations, and multi-modal planning. You will guide ITS initiatives and shape long-range plans to boost road safety and multimodal connectivity in a growing city.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree (ABET-accredited), Colorado PE/PTOE or eligibility within six months, plus 2 years of supervision and 5 years in transportation

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Colorado Professional Engineer or PTOE, or ability to obtain within six months.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience and 5 years of progressive engineering experience in transportation planning/engineering.
• Technical knowledge of traffic operations, control, networks, and civil engineering.
• Valid driver's license.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead the City’s traffic engineering and transportation planning efforts, overseeing MUTCD compliance and traffic signal operations.
• Oversee multi-modal planning and intelligent transportation systems (ITS).
• Shape the City’s long-range transportation vision through the Safety Action Plan and Transportation Master Plan.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve road safety and pedestrian/multimodal connectivity.
• Drive the City’s transportation initiatives to support a growing community.

The hiring range is $131,636.25 - $146,262.50

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Must be registered as a Professional Engineer or Professional Traffic Operations Engineer in the State of Colorado, or have the ability to obtain license within six months of hire.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience and f ive (5) years of progressive engineering experience in transportation planning and engineering required.
• Technical knowledge of traffic operations, traffic control, transportation networks, and civil engineering required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
