Job DetailsLevel: ManagementJob Location: 7625 LONE TREE ROAD - SACRAMENTO, CA 95837Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 Salary/yearPrimary Purpose: The Transportation Manager is responsible for managing the execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters General Produce. This includes managing budgets, organizing schedules and routes, ensuring that vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements, and making sure that drivers are aware of their duties. Directs and coordinates all customer service delivery activities to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities and personnel. The Transportation Manager Leads and supervises multiple layers in the department including transportation supervisor, routing and dispatch as well as a fleet of drivers consisting of leads, trainers, commercial and non-commercial drivers.

Essential Functions:
  • Articulates and demonstrates Company Mission, Vision and Values.
  • The company expert and provide leadership in the area of Transportation and Logistics.
  • Meets expected metrics for productivity, quality and service.
  • Analyzes effectiveness of all Transportation activities and directs implementation of policies and practices necessary to achieve highest service/low-cost model.
  • Conduct problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
  • Evaluates all routes for maximum efficiency, including creating and eliminating routes.
  • Leads a thorough and objective accident investigations related to company fleet. Develops root cause-analysis of accidents and follows up to ensure appropriate corrective measures and training are implemented.
  • Coordinates with broker and insurance carrier any motor vehicle accident claims.
  • Schedules drivers on a weekly basis, taking into consideration their driver licenses: Commercial Drivers or C License Drivers.
  • Meets all legal requirements and ensures compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT), California Air Resources Board (CARB), International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA), International Registration Plan (IRP), Unified Carrier Registration (UCR), Basic Inspection of Terminals (BIT) and others.
  • Manages the procurement of trucks, tractors, automobiles, trailers and other equipment.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of trucks, tractors, automobiles, trailers and equipment.
  • Reviews and approvals expenses for our fleet and related equipment.
Supervisory Functions:
  • Supervise the Transportation department, Routing & Dispatch function.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Additional Functions:
  • Learns and utilizes all office policies and procedures.
  • Attends staff meetings and company events.
  • Complies with all safety and security regulations and procedures.
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
QualificationsQualifications:
  • Solid knowledge of supply chain management.

  • Knowledge and experience with budgeting, operations management, inventory control, material handling and customer service

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Maintain a valid California Driver License.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Five years’ experience as a department manager.
  • Proven track record and related job experiences within the produce industry preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business/management or related field is strongly preferred.
