Mr. Greens has proudly grown into one of the largest privately-owned produce distributors in Texas, Georgia and Florida. With deliveries 365-days a year, 7-days a week and multiple runs per day, Mr. Greens has set the gold standard for service. Mr. Greens serves a large variety of clients, including restaurants, hotels, country clubs, caterers, grocery stores and retail outlets.
Summary
The Transportation Manager is responsible for day to day transportation operations. This includes driver management, load planning, and customer service functions needed to ensure customer satisfaction. The operational functions include revenue generation, safety, recruiting, equipment maintenance monitoring, and driver payroll.
Accountabilities
- Coordinates and supervises the activities of drivers to insure productivity of both drivers and equipment.
- Effectively and efficiently maintains a system that will educate and train a professional driver regarding safety, hours of service, customer satisfaction (on time of service), productivity and compliance with company policy and procedures.
- Maintain constant communication with drivers through various communication devises with focus on driver utilization and retention.
- Review load assignments made by customer service to determine if obtainable.
- Coordinate to ensure that scheduled maintenance of vehicles occurs on a timely basis.
- Create and analyze daily, weekly and monthly operational reports and evaluate department’s performance.
- Actively participates in recruitment, hiring, on-boarding, training & coaching of delivery drivers.
- Ensures the proper driver audits are performed and maintains appropriate records in accordance with DOT requirements.
- Supervises all aspects of Driver employment including but not limited to scheduling, licenses and DOT medical card renewal, performance review, disciplinary action, benchmarking/goal setting to ensure the highest level of performance. Documents and retains records on all employment matters.
- Plans, analyzes workload, and adjust headcount to meet department objectives.
- Consults with Safety department regarding workers comp, food safety, driver accident reporting. Conducts investigations and ensures appropriate paperwork is filled out.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- At least 3 years’ supervisory experience in same or related field
- Working knowledge of all DOT regulations & H.O.S.
- Experience with routing and driver scheduling.
- Commercial Driver’s License, Class A
- Proficient computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan, organize and execute at a high level.
- Food delivery industry experience.
