Responsibilities

• Conduct aircraft weight and balance calculations considering cargo capacity, loading restrictions, cargo configurations, restraints, and aircraft structural limitations to ensure safe and compliant loading operations.
• Manage air transportation of hazardous materials, ensuring proper compatibility, segregation, documentation, and loading in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement plans for transportation of a diverse mix of hazardous materials by airplane, including reviewing and validating shippers' declarations for hazardous goods.
• Administer safety, quality assurance, and personnel safety training programs to ensure operational compliance and workforce readiness.

Job description

As a Transportation Management Specialist in National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Secure Transportation, Office of Program Integration (OPI), Aviation Operations Division (AOD), your primary responsibility will to provide technical safety and procedural guidance to federal and contract personnel in support of OST aviation missions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service, i.e., NQ-02, NV-03 pay band or GS-12 level. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: comprehensive knowledge of the OST mission to effectively analyze and resolve critical transportation problems and provide agency and/or interagency advice through policy guidance on OST transportation activities.
