Job summary

Central Steel & Wire, part of the Ryerson Family of Companies, is seeking a Load Planner to design cost-efficient routing and ensure on-time delivery with strong customer service.

The role involves daily transportation planning, data analysis, reporting, and coordinating with carriers, with a Monday–Friday, 12pm–8:30pm schedule. Prior OTM/SAP experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating shipments and routing to meet delivery dates.
• Ability to communicate clearly with internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of transportation planning processes and metrics.

Responsibilities

• Produce day-to-day transportation plans to meet delivery dates using routing software.
• Identify shipping opportunities for improved performance such as multi-stop loads.
• Analyze plans to maximize asset use, service levels and minimize cost.
• Create and maintain reporting on transportation goals.
• Resolve carrier performance issues and changing priorities as needed.

As a Load Planner with Central Steel & Wire, you will be responsible for designing cost-efficient routing with a high level of customer service, ensuring on-time delivery to customers. A load planner will analyze shipments to create a work plan to meet customer expectations while minimizing asset use mileage while maximizing route stops and load weight. The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday, 12pm until 8:30pm.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Responsible for producing day-to-day transportation plans to meet delivery dates utilizing routing software (OTM and SAP)
• Identify shipping opportunities for improved performance such as: truckload multi-stops, consolidated shipments, etc.
• Perform methodical data analysis of the plan to maximize asset use and service requirements and reduce cost.
• Create/maintain reporting on transportation goals
• Identify and resolve carrier performance issues such as: missed loads, stops pick-ups, etc.
• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a transportation role
• Computer skills required (OTM/SAP experience a plus)
• Ability to manage changing priorities and multiple tasks
• Track record of self-motivated, results-orientated team player
• Professional communication skills with internal and external customers

Salary: $27.25 - $34.07 per hour. A starting salary higher than $27.25 per hour is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
