Job summary

State of Florida Department of Transportation in Tampa, FL seeks a part-time Transportation Intern to support bridge priorities, inspections and emergency planning. The intern will gain hands-on experience in engineering tasks under supervision, with opportunities for development in multiple track areas including planning, environmental management, and construction.

Ideal candidates are Civil Engineering students, sophomores to graduate level, with a minimum GPA of 3.2 and US work authorization.

Qualifications

• Sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum GPA 3.2.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing and updating bridge-related priorities.
• Assist with quality assurance reviews of inspection reports and load ratings.
• Assist with Hurricane Resiliency planning for Tampa Bay bridges and causeways.
• Support inspection reports, field reviews, and emergency repairs planning.
• Review bridge inventory and assist in developing a 5-year work program.
• Assist with design contract documents, specs, and cost estimates.
