Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transportation Hydraulics EIT/Coordinator to join our Transportation Business Group. You will collaborate on designs for urban and rural roadways, transit projects, and floodplain evaluations while supporting hydraulic analyses and reports.

The role emphasizes collaboration with project engineers, preparing drawings, and delivering design deliverables. An EIT is preferred, with opportunities to advance to career progression as you obtain licensure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental, water resources or other related fields.
  • Master's degree in Water Resources or related discipline.
  • Previous drainage design experience for highway/roadway projects, including plans and permitting.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or OpenRoads Designer focused on storm water design.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team on the design of urban and rural roadways, highway and transit projects, stormwater management plans, and floodplain evaluations.
  • Assist project engineers by applying drainage design, engineering and modeling techniques for transportation and water resource projects.
  • Prepare design drawings with BIM/CADD platforms for construction plans, specifications and cost estimates.
  • Prepare hydraulic calculations and design deliverables, including hydrologic/hydraulic analyses and floodplain evaluations.
  • Assist with writing drainage reports and technical memos; perform water quality assessments and calculations.

In the role of Transportation Hydraulics EIT/Coordinator, we'll count on you to:
  • Collaborate with a team on the design of urban and rural roadways, highway and transit projects, stormwater management plans, and floodplain evaluations.
  • Work under the direction of project engineers to apply various drainage design, engineering and modeling techniques in the development of transportation and water resource projects for local municipalities, state and federal clients
  • Prepare design drawings with BIM/CADD platforms for construction/contract plans along with specifications and cost estimates
  • Prepare hydraulic calculations and design deliverables, including hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, floodplain impact and compensation evaluations, stormwater modelling, bridge hydraulic and scour assessments, roadway drainage design, erosion and sediment control, water quality and attenuation systems, and permitting
  • Assist with writing drainage reports and technical memos
  • Perform water quality assessments and calculations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental, water resources or other related fields
  • Master's degree in Water Resources or related discipline
  • Previous experience or internship experience performing drainage design for highway/roadway projects, preparing plans, and permitting
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or OpenRoads Designer focused on storm water design
  • Adaptable to conditions including fast-paced and deadline driven work environment
  • Ability to work in the office to allow for collaboration

Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
