Job summary

West Virginia is seeking a Transportation Hauling Permit Specialist to manage oversize/overweight permits and learn the ProMiles system. You will issue and review permits, update the permit system with current restrictions from road construction, and coordinate with haulers, districts, and enforcement.

This exempt, at‑will role involves training, policy recommendations, and close supervision as needed, with travel as required and a strong emphasis on compliance and safety.

Qualifications

• Six years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time experience in logistics, dispatching, trucking, route mapping, or related transport roles.
• Substitution: coursework in CAD, design, logistics, operations management, industrial engineering/management, business administration or similar may substitute for four years of required experience.

**Disclaimer-this position will be considered classified-exempt and “at will.”

The Transportation Hauling Permit Specialist will recommend changes in hauling policies and train to gain in-depth knowledge of the new permit system, ProMiles. Issue and review oversize/overweight permits to haulers, update system to include current restrictions from road construction and maintenance activities, coordinate between haulers, districts, enforcement, etc. At this level, work is checked by supervisors as required, Performs related work as required.

**Preference may be given to Candidates with these qualifications**

TRAINING/EDUCATION

• High school diploma or the equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

• Six (6) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in logistics, dispatching, trucking, route mapping, or other areas pertaining to delivery, distribution, shipping, and/or transport of materials.
• Substitution: Successful completion of coursework from a regionally accredited college or university in CAD, design, logistics, operations management, industrial engineering or industrial management, business administration, or any logistical area may substitute for four (4) years of the required experience through an established formula.
