Transportation Field Technician (Up to $5,000 Sign-On Bonus)

Overview

As a Transportation Field Technician for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll work alongside collaborative team members, dedicated mentors, and experienced managers committed to supporting your career growth and success.

You'll be part of a highly trained and growing Construction Inspection and Engineering group that performs project management, quality control, quality assurance, project documentation, and other related services for the WVDOH. Projects may include bridge rehabilitation, bridge construction, roadway construction, grade/drain/pave, highway lighting, and highway signing.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform construction observation and documentation
  • Conduct field testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt to ensure project compliance
  • Interact professionally with construction site personnel, engineers, and state and federal representatives
  • Drive and maintain company vehicles to and from job sites
  • Write daily reports, interpret project plans/specifications, and enter data into web-based applications
  • Communicate with owners, project supervisors, and contractor personnel on-site

Qualifications:
  • WV TRET Certification Level 1-5 preferred
  • Minimum 1-3 years of field experience in roadway construction or heavy civil engineering projects
  • Experience with field testing equipment such as nuclear density gauges, penetrometers, and hand tools
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to interpret project plans and specifications
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to write accurate and concise field reports
