Job summary

HDR is seeking an Environmental Sciences and Planning Lead to join the Transportation Business Group in North Carolina. The role focuses on leadership, staff development, NEPA/SEPA deliverables, and cross‑sector collaboration to drive resource allocation and project success.

You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and contribute to business development while maintaining HDR’s employee‑owned culture and high‑quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field and at least 10 years of experience.
• Master’s degree in environmental science, planning, or related field preferred.
• Professional registration or certification may be required depending on role.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; client management experience is a plus.
• Experience with NEPA/SEPA, EIS/EA as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations of production including staff development, profitability, and quality control.
• Function as Project Manager and lead projects with management responsibilities.
• Develop and manage client relationships and pursue opportunities with key clients.
• Coordinate services with other sections and mentor staff.
• Lead marketing activities, proposals, and interviews.
• Direct work on environmental studies, NEPA documents, and reports.
• Ensure work planning, scheduling, and evaluation through proactive project management.
