Job summary

State of Mississippi’s Transportation Engineering Technician Team Lead in Jackson, MS, is a first-level supervisory role in the Materials Division, overseeing technical support to construction projects, traffic control and safety, roadway design, testing, transportation planning, and bridges.

You will supervise staff, perform and review work, participate in hiring decisions, training, and performance assessments, and ensure compliance with project requirements and state standards.

Qualifications

• Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• First-level supervisory position located in the Materials Division, overseeing technical support to construction projects, traffic control and safety, research and development, roadway design, rights-of-way, testing, transportation planning, and bridges.
• Jobs at this level inspect concrete plants and mix designs, inspect and supervise paving and bridge construction, and conduct more complex tests on construction materials.
• Employee supervision includes hiring recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline.
