Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern/Co-Op (Highways/Roadways) in Raleigh, NC to support our Transportation Business Group. The role provides real-world exposure to urban and rural roadway projects, mentorship programs, and hands-on engineering tasks under supervision.

• Perform assignments under supervision of a professional or Project Manager such as alignment and profile, geometrics, drainage, development of plans and construction estimates/quantities

HDR has an opening for a Transportation Engineering Intern/Co-Op (Highways/Roadways) with the technical skills and desire to help support our Transportation Business Group. This internship will be based in our Raleigh, NC office.

In the role of Transportation Engineering Intern/Co-Op, we’ll count on you to:

• Gain real-world experience on exciting urban and rural roadway projects
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professional programs
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager such as alignment and profile, geometrics, drainage, development of plans and construction estimates/quantities.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer 2 years completed toward Civil Engineering Degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry (Bently MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, etc.)
• Working towards an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
• Preference will be given to local candidates.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
