HDR, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern/Co-Op (Hydraulics) to support stormwater hydraulics work in our Transportation Business Group. The position will be based in HDR’s Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC offices.

You will gain real-world experience, work with mentors, and apply established engineering techniques under supervision, contributing to highways, rail, transit, and drainage projects that shape mobility and resilience.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
  • Must have good attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills are expected.

HDR is looking for a stormwater Transportation Engineering Intern/Co-Op (Hydraulics) to join our Transportation Business Group. Potential candidates will have the opportunity to work as a designer for the stormwater / hydraulics aspects of civil engineering projects for highways, railroads, transit systems, airports, bridges, and drainage systems. This position will be based in our Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC office.

In the role of Transportation Engineering Intern/Co-Op, we'll count on you to:
  • Gain real-world experience on exciting projects
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and our young professional's programs
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional engineer or Project Manager
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 1-3 years completed toward degree with a minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • Demonstrate knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
  • Preference will be given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Attention to detail
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
