Job summary

MSA Professional Services is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern for the summer of 2027 in our Madison, WI office. The role offers hands-on exposure to transportation projects across the state, with potential field work depending on project needs.

Internships typically run at least 12 weeks, mid-May 2027 to mid-August 2027, with dates confirmed later in the process. An ESOP-owned firm, MSA emphasizes collaboration and professional growth for its 40 interns each summer.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or related) in Civil Engineering is preferred.
• A valid driver’s license required.
• Prior transportation field experience preferred.
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• CAD work on highway improvement plans.
• Compile documentation consistent with current DOT standards.
• Project plan, quantities & specifications development.
• Assist in survey or field inspection/staking operations or related duties.

The various projects you'll be working on make a significant and positive impact on the communities you serve.

MSA internships are typically at least 12 weeks in duration, ranging from mid‑May 2027 to mid‑August 2027, with start/exit dates confirmed later in the hiring process. For engineering students seeking consulting experience with building projects, this is the position for you!
