Job summary

Alfred Benesch & Company invites motivated Civil Engineering students to join our Transportation internship program in Milwaukee or Madison, WI. As a Roadway/Highway Design intern for Summer 2026, you will contribute to design tasks, traffic analysis, and plan preparation under senior engineers.

You will gain hands-on experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD Civil 3D, work collaboratively in a team, and develop professional skills that translate to a full-time career in transportation

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Strong interest in highway, roadway, or transportation engineering.
• Familiarity with MicroStation and AutoCAD Civil 3D; 3D modeling a plus.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and manage multiple assignments.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to project sites.

Work alongside an experienced Transportation and Highway Design Professionals team dedicated to improving roadway and highway infrastructure. As a Roadway and Highway Design intern during the summer of 2026, you will contribute to engineering projects that involve highway and roadway design, traffic analysis, and plan preparation. You will gain valuable hands‑on experience in engineering design software, construction documentation, and collaborative project delivery.

Location

This internship will be based in either our Milwaukee, WI or Madison, WI office with opportunities for mentorship from senior engineers and exposure to project sites.

What We Are Looking For

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• Strong interest in highway, roadway, or transportation engineering
• Familiarity with design software such as MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D (Geopak or 3D Modeling experience a plus, but not required)
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Organizational skills to handle multiple assignments efficiently
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from project sites
