Job summary

Stantec’s New England Transportation group in New Hampshire is seeking a Civil Engineering intern for Summer 2027. You’ll work with experienced practitioners on transportation projects, gaining hands-on experience in planning, design, and community-focused infrastructure.

As an intern, you’ll grow technical skills in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and related software, while learning the project development process and collaborating across disciplines within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be a college student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project teams by preparing studies, memos, reports, spreadsheets, graphs, drawings, calculations, and related tasks.
  • Support project managers in understanding project management processes and internal frameworks.
  • Assist with fieldwork including construction inspection and data collection.
  • Participate in the broader Stantec internship program and engage with mentors and leaders.

Stantec’s New England Transportation group is looking for an intern in New Hampshire for Summer 2027!

We are looking for an individual that is passionate about improving our communities through the thoughtful planning and design of transportation systems and infrastructure. This person will learn about enhancing multimodal connections, designing roadways, bridges, and airports to more adaptive and resilient to climate change. This role is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to work collaboratively as part of a project team and gain a better understanding of the project development process for transportation projects of varying scale and complexity.

Your Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • May assist project teams and administrative staff by preparing or compiling studies, memos, reports, spreadsheets and graphs, drawings, calculations, research and other tasks in support of various transportation projects.

  • May assist project managers with tasks designed to understand the project management process and internal frameworks.

  • May include some fieldwork assisting with construction inspection and data gathering for various projects.

  • Other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned to support the team.

  • Participate in the broader Stantec internship program to learn more about Stantec, meet and engage with other interns and Stantec leaders, and take part in various workshops and speaker series.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Must have good organizational and time management skills, be punctual, reliable, detail oriented, and capable of taking initiative and working independently when needed.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both office and virtual environments.

  • Microsoft Office experience required.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D, MicroStation and/or OpenRoads Designer, ArcGIS, and/or Adobe Creative Suite software is a plus.

  • Willingness to perform field work, as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Must be a college student working towards a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Previous internship or co‑op experience in similar type work or office environment is a plus.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full‑time and part‑time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short‑term/long‑term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full‑time and part‑time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
