Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern to join our roadways team in North Dakota for the Summer of 2027. This paid internship offers full-time hours with office work and limited field exposure in a collaborative environment.

You will support roadway design, CAD drawing preparation, and basic calculations while gaining experience across project phases and design tools. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited engineering program.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree engineering program.
• Experience with MS Office tools is expected.
• Basic understanding of civil design concepts and transportation engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Support roadway design and structural engineering groups.
• Assist roadway construction engineering in the field.
• Conduct basic calculations and help develop estimates.
• Assist in preparing CAD drawings and reports.

This is a paid internship with full-time hours during the Summer of 2027. This is an office position; limited teleworking (if any) is anticipated.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Support our roadway design and structural engineering groups
• Support our roadway construction engineering groups in the field
• Conduct basic calculations and assist in developing engineer's estimates
• Assist team in preparing CAD drawings and reports
• Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• A passion for transportation engineering planning, design, and construction
• Ability to work with a team on multiple projects and project-related tasks
• Excellent oral, written, and graphic communication skills
• Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil design

Education and Experience

• Education: Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree or master’s degree engineering program #Student
• Previous experience in Microsoft products such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Experience with Bentley MicroStation/Open Roads Designer or AutoCAD/Civil 3D is a plus

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
