Job summary

CTDOT is hiring Transportation Engineer Trainee (Construction Engineering) in MESU, Rocky Hill, CT. Graduating engineers welcome and telework may be available after a training period.

Role focuses on materials testing, QA programs, and support for highway, bridge, and other transportation projects. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and may qualify via PE/EIT/LS/LSIT or NICET certifications.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Bachelor's degree is required.
• Substitutions allowed for PE/EIT/LS/LSIT/ NICET Level III certifications per CTDOT guidance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining AASHTOWare Construction and Materials and COMPASS within MESU and with stakeholders.
• Assist MESU, Construction, and Maintenance staff with materials testing and documentation to ensure QA compliance.
• Assist higher-level staff with maintaining laboratory accreditation and monitoring compliance.
• Assist with timely and accurate material certification of completed Department projects.
• Support MESU and active construction project staff in administering the Department's QA program for materials.
• Assist with revisions to processes and software platforms used to support these activities.
• Assist with collection, analysis, and report creation of materials-related data.
• Perform other duties to support the Division of Construction Operations.
