Job summary

Volkert, Inc. is seeking an experienced Transportation Engineer to support the Gulf Region with offices in Birmingham, Huntsville, and Tuscaloosa, AL. The candidate should have 5+ years in transportation planning and an Alabama PE license, with strong skills in Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, HCS, and Microstation.

The role involves analysis, programming studies, and collaboration to deliver high-quality transportation solutions for our clients. A proactive, independent work style is valued.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited program.
• 5-10+ years of transportation planning experience.
• Alabama PE License required.
• PTOE, PTP, and/or RSP certifications are a plus.
• Proficiency with transportation planning practices and procedures.
• Proficiency with Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, HCS, and Microstation.
• Familiarity with CUBE Voyager and TransCAD is a plus.
• Mastery with MS Office products.
• Must be dependable and able to work independently or in a team to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge of basic engineering principles.
• Work on traffic operations analysis, signal design, corridor planning, safety studies, and modeling.
• Assist the Project Manager in development and design of projects.
• Help develop Engineering Interns under Service Line Manager guidance.
• Prepare engineering studies, documents, and reports.
