Job summary

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is seeking a Transportation Engineer Intern (STEM) for the 2027 internship period in Columbus, OH. This paid, full-time internship runs May through August 2027, with potential to transition into a Full-Time Junior Engineer role after graduation.

You will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders, gaining mentorship from experienced staff and collaborating with other engineers in our Columbus office.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor or Associate degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering or related field.
• Minimum GPA 3.0 and strong verbal/written communication.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; self-motivated and detail oriented.
• Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support project tasks including regulatory reviews, cost estimates, research, procurement support.
• Perform data entry, management, evaluation, and presentation.
• Assist in preparing reports, plans, and specifications for clients.
• May perform field assignments as needed.
• Mentors will provide guidance and oversight.
• Handle other related duties as necessary.

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is seeking a highly motivated and diverse Transportation Engineer Intern (STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) to join us in our Columbus, OH office for the 2027 internship period. This is a paid full-time position with anticipated duration from May through August 2027 (flexible) and has the potential to transition into a Full-Time Junior Engineer Role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders with partnerships with other engineering staff.

Responsibilities

• Support various project tasks including regulatory requirements/reviews, cost estimates, research, procurement support, etc.;
• Perform data entry, management, evaluation, and presentation;
• Support the preparation of reports, plans, and specifications for clients;
• May work on field assignments as needed;
• Will be supported by leaders, mentors, and teammates; and
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary

Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old;
• Pursuing Bachelor or Associates Degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering or related field;
• Minimum GPA of 3.0;
• Has excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills;
• Self-motivated, detail oriented person;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point); and
• Honest, fun, hard-working and ready to learn and grow.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with engineering software applications (AutoCAD, MathCAD, Bentley Microstation, etc.) is preferred but not required.
