Transportation Engineer-in-Training
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of multiple construction plans for transportation projects under the supervision of a senior project engineer or project manager.
- Perform work involving conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment, including engineering calculations, interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications, and assistance with proposal preparation.
- Coordinate work of multiple engineering disciplines and perform drafting/CADD work for the project.
- Develop engineering reports, quantities and construction cost estimates.
Preferred Qualifications
- General knowledge and/or experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads.
- Good communication and technical writing skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, and NACTO standards.
- EIT certification preferred.
Education and Skills Required
- 0-2 years of experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- General knowledge of required design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, OpenRoads).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good communication and technical writing skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
Education and Work Experience Preferred
- Previous internships or work experience in the engineering field.
Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations Required
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to maintain required certifications.
Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
