Job summary

Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) in Houston is seeking an Engineer I to assist with engineering system design across multiple projects. You will perform design calculations, prepare reports, cost estimates, permits, and deliverable drawings under close supervision.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 0-1 year experience; an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) credential is preferred. Familiarity with AutoCAD, MATLAB, and SolidWorks is advantageous.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
0-1 year experience or equivalent.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred.
Strong grasp of core engineering principles.
Ability to analyze complex problems and develop solutions.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, MATLAB, SolidWorks or discipline-specific software.
Understanding of timelines, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Critical thinking and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Assist Engineers and Designers in design and detailing of engineering systems; write/edit specifications and research design options.
Apply prescribed techniques and procedures to perform tasks and research findings.
Collect data, perform basic computations, and prepare drawings/visual aids.
Participate in meetings to ensure code compliance; conduct site investigations as needed.
Interact with staff, the public, officials, and contractors; limited client-facing responsibilities.
