Job summary

MBP is seeking an Entry-Level Transportation Engineer (Full‑Time) to support project assignments including on-site representation, cost estimating, scheduling, plan review, and QA/QC inspections across Virginia locations such as Roanoke, Staunton, Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Winchester, and Culpeper. The role requires a BS in Engineering or related field; FE/EIT preferred; OSHA 10/30 within 3 months.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • FE/EIT certification preferred.
  • OSHA 10/30 hour certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of construction management and project controls.
  • Experience with CPM scheduling, cost estimating, budgeting, delay analysis, constructibility and design review, inspections, quantity take-offs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee on-site representation and project documentation.
  • Prepare cost estimates, schedules, and plan reviews.
  • Research records and QA/QC inspection and materials testing.
  • Review project records and change orders.
  • Receive training and perform administrative duties as assigned.

Transportation Engineer (Entry-Level) (Full-Time)

Job Locations: US-VA-Roanoke | US-VA-Staunton | US-VA-Charlottesville | US-VA-Lynchburg | US-VA-Winchester | US-VA-Culpeper

Overview

Some experience in transportation construction preferred. Experience may be in the following sectors: federal, state, municipal, ports or marina projects.

Responsibilities

Main Duties: Project assignments including on-site representation of client, preparation of project documentation, cost estimating, scheduling, plan review, research of records, quality control/quality assurance inspection and materials testing and oversight. May perform a review of project records, schedules, and as-built construction to evaluate change orders and requests for extension of time. Independently apply techniques and analyze for problems and methods. Ensure the quality and timeliness of deliverables.

Additional Duties: Receive training, participation in company activities, and administrative duties. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Knowledge: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Architecture, or related field. FE/EIT preferred. Knowledge of engineering principles of construction management and project controls. Knowledge of one of the following services: critical path method scheduling, cost estimating, project budgeting, delay analysis, constructibility and design review, inspections, quantity take-offs. Must possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or obtain within 3 months of hire.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, CADD, graphics, writing capabilities, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to maintain favorable public relations.
  • Able to stand and sit as required on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain.

Guidance / Responsibility: Work is closely supervised.

Supervisory: Ability to supervise assistants in technical/administrative roles.

Salary

The base salary range for this position is $70,000.00 to $74,000.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on work location, qualifications, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
