Job DescriptionTransportation Engineer (Airport Design) - Orlando, FL

Job Summary

The Transportation Engineer will handle all aspects of engineering design for airports and municipal projects, including CAD production, Civil 3D, stormwater management, cost estimating, specification writing, and construction field observation. The role requires compliance with government regulations to ensure airport facilities meet all applicable codes. The engineer must uphold professional ethics and engineering standards. Additional duties may be assigned by the manager as needed.

Responsibilities

  1. Analyze project costs and provide technical advice for design issues.
  2. Plan engineering drawings and specifications, and conduct engineering investigations.
  3. Address technical problems by devising new approaches and alternative solutions.
  4. Prepare and oversee the development of cost estimates, schedules, and budgets.
  5. Maintain quality control to ensure standards are met in all work produced.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, ICPR, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong math and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn new software quickly.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening; ICE is a drug-free workplace.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or EIT certification with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in aviation is preferred; candidates without aviation experience should have expertise in civil site design, roadway design, and drainage.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position mainly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. Lifting of lightweight office supplies (up to 20 pounds) may be required. The environment is indoors with controlled temperatures. Visual acuity and color differentiation are necessary, along with sound recognition. Effective communication skills are essential. The role requires adaptability to workflow changes and prolonged sitting.

Expected Hours of Work

The ICE office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a one-hour unpaid lunch. Work schedules may vary based on project needs. This is an onsite role reporting to the ICE office five days a week, with some weekend work as needed.
