A leading company in Michigan is seeking a Transportation Engineer to provide engineering functions in bridge design. The role involves preparing design plans and cost estimates while utilizing CADD software. Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering, with a civil engineering degree preferred. Experience varies by level, with opportunities for recent graduates.
The Bureau of Bridges and Structures (BOBS) serves as the statewide bridge authority for both Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) owned bridges and local agency bridges. Every BOBS team member is tasked with the efficient and innovative design, construction, and active preservation of Michigan's structural assets throughout the Great Lakes State.
This role provides engineering functions in the specialized area of bridge design. Responsibilities include preparing bridge design plans, proposal materials, and cost estimates for bridges and miscellaneous highway facilities, utilizing standard design practices and Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software (e.g., Open Bridge Modeler, Open Roads Designer, Leap Package, MDX, ProjectWise, AASHTOWare, etc.). Work is performed under general guidelines.
The listed salary range reflects the minimum at the entry (9) level through the maximum at the experienced (P11) level. Candidates will be reviewed based on education and experience to determine the appropriate level.

Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering is required. A civil engineering degree is preferred. Applicants who will obtain a degree by May 31, 2025, may also be considered.
Experience varies by level:
Possession of a registered professional engineer license may substitute for 6 months of experience at the TE 9-12 levels, applicable once per employee.
