Transportation Engineer III: $7,388 / month
Transportation Engineer II: $6,119 / month
Transportation Engineer I: $5,512 / month
At the North Dakota Department of Transportation, we owe our success to our people and processes. As a Transportation Engineer in Design Division, you will develop reports, plans, and specifications for construction projects on state and federal highway systems. You will develop environmental documents and obtain federal approval. The ideal person for this position will be a problem solver with excellent communication skills and attention to detail with previous experience in using a Computer Aided Drafting and Design Program (CADD). You will also have knowledge of practices, principles, standards, and guidelines as related to engineering processes; preparing engineering reports and plans for roadway construction and providing technical support for consultants.
To be considered as a Transportation Engineer III, you must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or a closely related degree, and four years of professional-level engineering work experience. You will need to have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam as specified by the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
To be considered as a Transportation Engineer II, you must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or closely related degree, and two years of professional-level engineering work experience. In addition, you must have passed or have the ability to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam as specified by the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
To be considered as a Transportation Engineer I, you must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or closely related degree.

This position requires a class D driver’s license for travel to various projects and required trainings.
