Job summary

The State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation (CTDOT), invites applications for Transportation Engineer 2 (Land Surveying) at the Newington HQ in Newington, CT. The role focuses on advanced property mapping, ROW mapping, and acquisition activity as part of the Central Survey team.

A valid driver’s license is required; travel is expected. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management and licensure or equivalent credentials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management and two years of professional transportation construction engineering experience.
• State employee substitutions may apply for licensure or NICET certifications as described.
• Licensure as a Land Surveyor or PE is preferred or required by substitutable credentials.

Responsibilities

• Perform land records analysis and interpretation.
• Read and interpret Right of Way maps for CTDOT projects.
• Prepare property acquisition and release maps using CAD software.
• Review mapping data produced by peers and staff.
• Develop and update procedural workflows for surveying tasks.
• Coordinate with CTDOT engineers and consulting staff to prepare mapping.
