Job description

The Transportation Engineer 2 (Land Surveying) position in the Connecticut Department of Transportation's Division of Construction Operations supports property acquisition, release, and state right-of-way mapping. Working in a hybrid, first-shift role at DOT Headquarters in Newington, CT, this advanced production-level position involves analyzing land records, interpreting maps, preparing property acquisition and release maps using Bentley CADD software, and coordinating with engineers across the department. The role reports to the Principal Engineer of Surveys and helps fulfill CTDOT's obligations under Connecticut General Statutes.

Key qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management and two years of professional transportation engineering experience
• Land Surveyor (LS) or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure may substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement
• Considerable skill in computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) applications, particularly Bentley MicroStation
• Experience with land surveying, survey maps, and reading and interpreting deeds
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license required and must be maintained
• Availability to travel as needed for the position
