Job description

Hussey Gay Bell is accepting applications for a Transportation Engineer to join its Duluth location. Candidates must have 2-10 years of transportation systems design and construction administration experience. A strong technical background with leadership, communication, and business development skills is essential. The successful candidate will design and manage aspects of transportation projects for state and local governments, including:

  • Development of construction plans
  • Cost estimates
  • Bid documents
  • Various calculations and quantity takeoffs
Role Overview:

The Transportation Engineer will design and manage transportation projects, focusing on construction plans, cost estimates, bid documents, and related tasks.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Assist in designing and creating construction documents for transportation projects
  • Handle roadway design components such as typical sections, earthwork, geometric layouts, drainage and hydraulic analysis, erosion control, signing and marking, safety features, and traffic maintenance plans
  • Produce construction documents including design, drafting, quantity calculations, specifications, and cost estimates
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • 2+ years of professional experience in highway/transportation design, including ROW and final construction plans; GDOT and SCDOT experience preferred
  • Proficiency with roadway design software like Open Roads, MicroStation V8i, and GEOPAK
  • Knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD, and GDOT/SCDOT standards
Preferred Skills:
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in GA
  • Strong planning, scheduling, organizational, and communication skills
