Job summary

Harborview Health Systems in Augusta, GA is seeking a Transportation Driver to safely transport residents to medical appointments and activities, assist with boarding, and ensure resident safety.

You will maintain logs, coordinate with nursing and therapy staff, and uphold all policies while delivering compassionate care. CDL with passenger endorsement preferred but not required; CPR/First Aid preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL with passenger endorsement preferred but not required).
• Experience driving passenger van, wheelchair-accessible vehicle, or bus is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of senior care needs and safe transport of wheelchair users.
• Ability to lift, bend, and assist residents with mobility needs.
• High level of patience, reliability, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents to and from scheduled medical appointments, therapies, social outings, and other destinations as assigned.
• Assist residents with entering and exiting the vehicle, using equipment (e.g., wheelchair lifts, gait belts) as needed.
• Ensure all residents are properly secured in accordance with safety guidelines before transit begins.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of the vehicle at all times.
• Perform daily vehicle safety checks and report maintenance issues promptly.
• Coordinate with nursing, therapy, and social services to confirm transport schedules and special needs.
• Maintain accurate transportation logs and documentation for each trip.
• Exhibit patience, professionalism, and care when interacting with residents, family members, and staff.
• Uphold all company policies and state/federal transportation regulations.
• Duties as assigned
