Under general supervision, the Transportation Driver for PACE Southeast Michigan performs activities related to the transportation of program participants and medical supplies to and from the program site and other facilities as directed.
Specific Duties and Functions:
- Maintains established departmental and system policies and procedures, including but not limited to:
- Quality Assurance Program
- Safety and Environmental Standards
- Infection Control Standards
- Transports program participants to and from the program site or other assigned areas, as directed by the transportation supervisor or manager.
- Assists participants with boarding and disembarking, using appropriate assistive devices if necessary, ensuring safety at all times.
- Participates in scheduled training, in-services, and staff meetings as directed.
- Uses proper body mechanics and transfer techniques during transportation services.
- Secures wheelchairs and safety belts for wheelchair-bound participants.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the transportation supervisor or manager, including:
- Vehicle maintenance (oil, brake fluid, windshield wiper fluid, tire inflation, battery charging, fueling, repairs)
- Bus cleaning and disinfection, especially after contamination with bed bugs or bodily fluids
- Responsible for delivering medications and supplies daily (average of 125 items), including ensuring proper delivery and accountability.
- Handles post-death responsibilities, including pickup of personal items and donations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Valid Michigan CDL license - Class A or B with Passenger endorsement, with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience in transporting individuals with mobility needs.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds or more, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Must meet CMS-approved competencies before employment.
- Medically cleared for communicable diseases with up-to-date immunizations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook.
- Successfully pass background check, health screening, drug test, TB, and MMR tests.
