The Director of AI – Transportation is a leadership role within our Transportation Business Group (TBG). You will define and implement the strategic vision for AI across TBG, integrating AI-driven solutions into transportation projects and services, collaborating with leadership, IT, and technology teams.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Strategic AI Vision & Roadmap: Develop and execute a multi-year AI roadmap aligned with TBG goals.
2. Program Development & Leadership: Oversee AI program growth, talent acquisition, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, and project prioritization.
3. Collaboration & Coordination: Partner with internal teams and external vendors to enable AI project delivery and integrate AI into workflows.
4. Governance & Best Practices: Establish standards, QA/QC, MLOps processes, data governance, and risk mitigation.
5. Client & Market Interface: Identify AI opportunities, develop proposals, and position HDR as a leader in AI solutions.

Qualifications include:

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience delivering AI solutions for transportation projects.
• Minimum 7 years in the consulting A/E industry.
• Proficiency with AI/ML libraries, cloud platforms, MLOps, and programming frameworks.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience evaluating emerging AI technologies for transportation.
• Familiarity with data governance, IP, and contracts.
• Involvement in AI strategy or digital transformation initiatives.
