Job summary

BETA Group, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Engineering Designer to join our Worcester, MA team and work on a wide range of infrastructure projects.

This role blends drafting, traffic analysis, design development, and project documentation to deliver roadway improvements. The position requires a civil engineering baseline, 0–3 years of related experience, proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D, and knowledge of MUTCD, AASHTO, and MassDOT standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
• 0 to 3 years of related engineering experience in highway design, stormwater management, ADA compliance, and roadway construction practices.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Civil3D and MassDOT design requirements.
• Experience with MUTCD, AASHTO, MassDOT design requirements.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of roadway and highway improvement projects, including alignment, profiles, cross-sections, grading, and drainage.
• Utilize AutoCAD software in the preparation of construction plans and specifications in accordance with federal, state (e.g., MassDOT), and local requirements.
• Perform geometric design, quantity takeoffs, and assist with pavement markings, traffic control, and ADA compliance elements.
• Support preparation of technical reports, permit applications, and design calculations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, including transportation planners, traffic engineers, environmental scientists, and GIS team members.
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards such as AASHTO, MUTCD, and local DOT guidelines.
• Participate in field investigations, site visits, and data collection as needed.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and assist with quality control reviews.
