Job summary

Ulteig Engineers, Inc. seeks a Transportation Design Engineer to join our transportation team, delivering innovative designs for multi-discipline transportation projects.

You will contribute from concept through construction on projects ranging from small to large scale, collaborating with engineers and field staff in a dynamic ESOP-owned environment. Qualified candidates have a Civil Engineering degree (ABET) and an EIT, with at least two years of experience, strong communication, leadership,

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree required and EIT certification.
• Minimum 2 years civil engineering experience with strong communication and leadership.
• Proficiency in CAD software (C3D or Bentley MicroStation) and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Applies standard engineering techniques to complete tasks.
• Develops plans, specs, and observation reports with sound practices.
• Guides engineering technicians and graduates; reviews design computations.
• Prepares reports and correspondence for project direction.
• Reviews plans for accuracy, quality, construct-ability, safety, and risk.
• Maintains value engineering mindset across development, design, construction.
• Resolves design challenges and coordinates with multiple teams.

The selected candidate will be involved with the design of small to large multi discipline projects. Candidates must be self-motivated with excellent communication skills and an ability to work in a collaborative team environment. What You’ll Do

• Applies current, standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete engineering tasks.
• Develops plans, specifications, and observation reports that are complete, accurate and in accordance with sound engineering practices.
• Work closely with and provides guidance to engineering technicians and graduate engineers.
• Check design computations performed by internal civil design team when appropriate.
• Prepare reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects.
• Review plans and specifications for accuracy, quality, construct-ability, safety, and risk management considerations.
• Maintain a value engineering mindset throughout development, design, and construction.
• Is technically involved with the resolution of design challenges that may include performing field investigation or observations and when necessary, resolving discrepancies between multiple sources of information.
• Works closely with business and engineering staff across multiple offices and technical disciplines.
• Work on projects associated with multiple State DOTs, cities, and counties.
• Support field staff by addressing construction questions, review field changes, and make periodic site visits.

What We Expect From You

• B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent required.
• Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) registration required.
• Minimum 2 years of civil engineering experience required.
• Excellent communication, leadership, planning and mentoring skills.
• Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access) and CAD Software Applications such as C3D or Bentley MicroStation.
• Demonstrates openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.
• Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Additional Opportunity Details:

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $79,100 - $107,000

• Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
