Job summary

The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) is hiring a Data Scientist within the Data Analytics Unit of the Policy & Community Affairs Division. You will manage data pipelines, enhance governance, and bridge modern cloud-based solutions with legacy systems to support projects on traffic congestion, fare regulation, driver pay, vehicle electrification, and charging infrastructure.

Reporting to the Director of Data Analytics, you will conduct statistical analysis, manage complex data

Qualifications

• For Assignment Level I, a master's degree in an appropriate field.
• For Assignment Level II and above, a doctorate or a master's with required experience; equivalent education/experience may be substituted with conditions.
• Minimum requirements include at least a master's degree and two years of relevant experience if substituting for higher levels.

Responsibilities

• Perform statistical analysis and produce reproducible code to inform policy.
• Manage complex data projects through iterative cycles and research methodologies.
• Respond promptly to ad hoc requests and deliver accurate analyses.
• Collaborate with team members and present projects to senior staff and external stakeholders.
• Mentor other team members and interact with agency leadership on data analysis.

Education

Master's degree in physical, biological, environmental science or public health

Doctorate degree in physical, biological, environmental or social science with 1 year supervising/administrative/research experience

Master's degree with 3 years full-time research experience
