Qualifications

• Four years of experience directly related to highways or transportation, with responsibilities for written materials.
• Five years of experience for Trainee 2 with related duties.
• Six years of experience for Transportation Analyst 1 with related duties.
• Substitutions: associate for two years, bachelor for four, master for five, doctorate for six years.

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes transportation statistics and information; develops methods of analysis; and prepares reports of findings.
• Coordinates with the traffic data processing team to ensure timely data availability.
• Evaluates and summarizes data, including manipulation of data to show effects of variables on transportation systems.
• Develops and maintains data inventory and analysis systems with documentation.
• Reviews crash patterns, severity, and contributing factors.
• Performs on-site evaluations of roadways, traffic, and environmental conditions.
• Identifies root causes of safety issues.
• Reviews and analyzes past reports and other information for current assignments.
• Recommends engineering solutions.
• Prepares formal safety investigation reports.
• Supports HSIP and regional safety project rankings.
• Interacts with partners and stakeholders, and responds to inquiries from engineers, planners, and the public about traffic issues.
• Performs any duties of a Transportation Analyst as needed.
• Additional duties discussed during interview.

Education

Bachelor's degree substitution for four years of experience

Master's degree substitution for five years of experience

Doctorate substitution for six years of experience

Associate degree substitution for two years of experience
