Job summary

The Transportation Planning and Management Division (TP&M) of the New York City Department of Transportation seeks a Transportation Specialist to assist in data analysis for the Public Engagement Group (PEG). This role supports Vision Zero initiatives and public outreach for street improvement projects across NYC.

Under supervision, you will conduct research, deploy surveys, and analyze data to guide planning decisions.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent in transportation engineering, planning, urban studies or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree with 1 year of related work in roadway transportation/traffic studies or area-wide programs.
  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of related experience as described above.
  • Associate degree or 60 credits with 4 years related experience.
  • Four-year high school diploma with 6 years related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in data analysis for the Public Engagement Group (PEG).
  • Conduct field outreach like intercept surveys on project areas.
  • Develop and deploy outreach plans and logistics with PEC.
  • Liaise with internal planning units to support programmatic planning.
  • Track key performance metrics to optimize engagement efforts.
  • Support SIP development including Open Streets, bike lanes and Citi Bike expansion.
