Job summary

Akima Global Logistics (AGL) seeks a Transportation Coordinator to plan, schedule, and coordinate inbound and outbound Army equipment during turn‑in at a contractor‑operated site. This role ensures shipments comply with DTR, Army transportation policies, and contract requirements while maintaining accurate documentation.

You will work with unit supply personnel, warehouse teams, and drivers, prepare shipping documents, monitor movement data, and deliver daily/weekly status reports.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; relevant work experience acceptable.
  • 3–5 years in transportation or logistics coordination, preferably Army contractor/military.
  • Familiar with Army systems and transportation documentation standards.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and maintain accuracy.

  • Direct and manage operations related to receipt, processing, and shipment of Army equipment.
  • Develop shipment schedules and adjust timelines to avoid bottlenecks.
  • Liaise with unit supply, warehouse teams, drivers, and leadership for cargo flow.
  • Review and authorize shipping documents (DA 1348-1A, DD 1149, BOLs).
  • Audit movement data in TC-AIMS II, GCSS-Army, DPAS, and maintain logs.
  • Ensure ISO 9001:2015 audit readiness and compliance with DTR 4500.9-R and related ARs.
  • Oversee HAZMAT packaging, labeling, and cargo securement.

Job description

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating the inbound and outbound movement of Army equipment and materiel during the turn-in process at a contractor-operated site. This role ensures that all shipments are conducted in compliance with Defense Transportation Regulation (DTR), U.S. Army transportation policies, and contract requirements, while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting accountability of government property.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage all operational activities related to the receipt, processing, and shipment of vehicles, equipment, and repair parts returned by Army units.
  • Develop and manage shipment schedules, adjusting timelines to prevent bottlenecks during high‑volume operations.
  • Act as the primary liaison with unit supply personnel, warehouse teams, drivers, and leadership to ensure seamless cargo flow.
  • Review, validate, and authorize shipping/receiving documents including DA Form 1348‑1A, DD Form 1149, bills of lading, TCMDs, and load plans.
  • Audit and reconcile movement data in TC‑AIMS II, GCSS‑Army, and DPAS, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Maintain oversight of shipping/receiving logs and ensure audit readiness in accordance with ISO 9001:2015.
  • Interpret and enforce compliance with DTR 4500.9‑R, AR 55‑355, AR 710‑2, and AR 735‑5.
  • Approve proper HAZMAT packaging, marking, and labeling prior to shipment.
  • Oversee cargo securement and safety compliance in line with Army, DOT, and OSHA requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver analytical daily/weekly movement status reports to the Site Manager and COR.
  • Analyze key performance metrics and recommend improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for transportation‑related issues, resolving discrepancies independently.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; however, equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted.
  • 3–5 years of transportation or logistics coordination (Army contractor or military environment strongly preferred).
  • Prior experience with Army turn-in or SSA operations highly desirable.
  • Army regulations: AR 55-355, AR 710-2, AR 735-5, and DTR 4500.9-R.
  • Familiarity with Army systems: TC-AIMS II, GCSS-Army, DPAS, LMP.
  • Transportation documentation standards and cargo securement practices.
  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and prepare Army transportation forms.
  • Excellent communication skills with Army personnel and contractor staff.
  • Knowledge of HAZMAT handling, DOT/OSHA safety, and load securement.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with proof of vehicle insurance.
  • Must have a real ID.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Must be able to obtain Tier1/ NACI (Public trust) background eligibility.
  • Basic proficiency in the English language (reading and writing).
  • Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results.
  • Employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to travel within the United States as required. This position may require up to 25% travel.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform routine standing, walking, bending, and reaching tasks in warehouse and field environments.
  • Must also meet all physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties, including working in extreme heat or cold, high, or low humidity, blowing sand and dust, confined spaces, heights, and other inclement weather conditions.
  • This position involves working both indoors and outdoors, periodic overtime, and exposure to heat, dust, cold, and adverse weather conditions.
