Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 2–4 years in transportation/logistics
• Experience with ERP systems such as Dynamics NAV or SAP
• Experience using a Transportation Management System (TMS)
• Experience working in the transportation industry
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day transportation operations using a transportation management system (TMS)
• Monitor containers and coordinate with transportation vendors to secure capacity and ensure proper procedures are followed
• Communicate shipment status with internal and external stakeholders
• Identify exceptions and resolve potential delays to maintain on-time delivery and container returns
• Ensure all customer contacts and locations details are accurate and up-to-date
• Monitor the container cycle from shipping to final empty container return
• Maintain strong relationships with transportation vendors
• Assist and participate in transportation-related calls
• Ensure proper container allocation to transportation is followed
• Assist in other duties as assigned

Position Reporting To – Transportation Manager

Summary/Objective

Reporting to the Transportation Manager, the Transportation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and optimizing the transportation operations of the organization. This role involves coordinating schedules, routes, and logistics to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods and services. The Transportation Coordinator will also maintain relationships with transportation vendors and customers to ensure the highest level of service is delivered.

Essential Functions

• Manage the execution of transportation’s day-to-day operations using transportation management system
• Monitor containers and coordinate with transportation vendors to secure capacity and ensure proper procedures are adhered to
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders about shipment status
• Ability to identify exceptions and find solutions to potential delaysResolve and communicate operational issues preventing on-time delivery and empty container return
• Ensure all customer contacts and locations details are accurate and kept current.
• Monitor the container cycle from shipping to final empty container return.
• Maintain strong relationships with transportation vendors.
• Assist and participate in transportation related calls
• Ensure proper container allocation to transportation are followed
• Assist in other duties assigned

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelors/Diploma/Certificate in Supply Chain or Logistics or 2-4 years’ experience within the transportation field
• Experience using Dynamics NAV/Navision, SAP or a similar ERP system an asset
• Experience using TMS or dispatch system
• Experience working in the transportation industry
• Working knowledge of import and export is an asset
• Proficient with the use of a computer, including, but not limited to, the use of Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
