A leading company in food distribution seeks a Transportation Coordinator to manage inbound freight effectively. The role involves optimizing freight costs and enhancing delivery efficiency while coordinating with various internal teams. DESCRIPTION OF EMPLOYER: Founded in 1901, Feeser’s, Inc. is a family owned and operated full-line foodservice distributor located in Harrisburg, PA servicing the Mid-Atlantic region. Feeser’s provides an expansive offering of dry, refrigerated, and frozen products to a diverse customer base comprised of restaurants, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, and other institutions.
SUMMARY: The responsibility of the Transportation Coordinator is to develop and administer the local inbound freight management program ensuring timely and cost-efficient delivery of managed freight and backhaul shipments. To do this effectively the coordinator has to: increase inbound managed case volumes and maximize profitability of managed loads by determining the most cost-effective mode of transportation while ensuring acceptable service levels. This requires effective negotiations with the carrier and suppliers. Internally the Transportation Coordinator is working with buyers to review optimal buying patterns to improve load fill and improve logistics income.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administers the freight-sheltered income program while ensuring timely delivery of inside managed and backhaul shipments.
Creates and manages tracking to work towards set KPI’s.
Works with purchasing, operations, and transportation to identify distribution efficiencies, reduce cost, identify backhaul opportunities and develop lanes for freight management.
Ensures that loads are booked and delivered as scheduled and detention time for inhouse fleet is applied appropriately.
Qualifies carriers and maintains accurate rate, contract, and insurance records.
Conducts cost analysis to verify least cost methods of transport between internal and external resources including LTL and intermodal. Identifies opportunities to utilize the fleet for backhaul to maximize savings.
Reviews purchasing cycles to build optimal consolidations to achieve maximum revenue.
Negotiates contract rates and conditions with carrier and bills carrier.
Is the first line person to assist with accident and injury paperwork. Collecting data and handing off to the Transportations Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
1- 2 Years of experience in the supply chain field with an understanding of Freight expense as a Cost of Goods, Earned Income, managing relationships with Internal departments, Vendors, and Carriers
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or related area
4 - 6 Years of experience in supply chain management
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of modern TMS applications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift equipment up to 100 pounds.
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
Must possess visual acuity, i.e., close, distance, and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust.
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Low temperatures
