Job Description

CDR Maguire Inc., a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, has an immediate opening for a Transportation Construction Manager to work with Pittsburgh Regional Transit (formerly Port Authority of Allegheny County) on a large ($100+M) Civil/Heavy-Highway construction project, Bus Rapid Transit University Line. This is a multi-year project.

The Transportation Construction Manager (RCM) will oversee construction inspection staff, coordinate with contractors, consultants, engineers, and job superintendents regarding plans, specifications, materials, equipment, methods, practices, and safety precautions involved in construction and installation. Responsibilities include preparing daily progress reports, maintaining schedules, reviewing contractor quotations, tracking quantities and costs, preparing progress payment claims, and recommending payments. Compensation will be competitive and exceed typical regional Supervisor and Manager rates due to the project's scale.

Local candidates preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Ensure contractor compliance with contract documents and health and safety plans.
2. Verify that delivered materials conform to specifications.
3. Check contractor’s layout and accuracy.
4. Prepare and submit daily work reports.
5. Review and route submittals and RFIs.
6. Maintain records for contractor payments.
7. Process Change Orders.
8. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
9. Follow instructions and utilize computers and office equipment.
10. Perform physical activities such as bending, stretching, kneeling, sitting, and standing.
11. Lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
12. Wear personal protective equipment and react to hazardous signals.
13. Occasionally perform manual labor and work in adverse weather conditions.
14. Limit exposure to chemicals.

OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

1. Travel as required within Downtown Pittsburgh and Oakland areas.
2. Maintain a positive attitude to foster competence and pride.
3. Oversee inspection staff, providing guidance and mentorship.
4. Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

Education, Experience, and Skills:

• High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education with the ability to read, write, communicate clearly in English, and perform basic math related to Heavy Highway construction.
• 10+ years of construction management or inspection experience.

Certifications and Experience:

• Experience with Pittsburgh Regional Transit or Port Authority of Allegheny County construction inspection.
• NICET Level 3 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction or PE License.
• NECEPT Bituminous field certification.
• ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe.
• PennDOT ECMS experience.
• OSHA 10-Hour certification.
