CDR Maguire Inc. - Transportation Construction Inspector

CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors for an upcoming multi-year, Turnpike project scheduled to start in late Winter/early Spring 2025. This heavy-highway construction project involves a bridge replacement over the mainline PA Turnpike, located between the Gettysburg Pike (MP 236) and the Harrisburg West (MP 242) exits.

The Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) will be responsible for consulting with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders regarding plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and safety procedures. Key duties include preparing daily progress reports, maintaining schedules, reviewing contractor submissions, and verifying quantities and costs.

Note: Relocation or sponsorship is not available. Local candidates are highly desirable.

Essential Functions:

1. Ensure contractor compliance with contract documents and safety plans.
2. Verify that materials conform to specifications.
3. Check layout accuracy and document work activities.
4. Prepare and submit daily reports and progress payments.
5. Communicate effectively and follow instructions.
6. Utilize computers and office equipment.
7. Perform physical activities such as bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and working in various weather conditions.
8. Wear necessary personal protective equipment and react appropriately to hazards.

Other Duties:

1. Travel within the Greater Harrisburg area as required.
2. Maintain a positive attitude and professionalism.
3. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education with proficiency in English and basic math.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of construction inspection experience.

Preferred Certifications and Experience:

• Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission inspection experience.
• NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction.
• NECEPT Bituminous field certification.
• ACI/PennDOT Concrete field technician certification.
• PennDOT/PTC CDS certification.
• ECMS experience.
• OSHA 10-Hour certification.
