Job description

Resident Engineer

Join Mozamo Engineering, Inc. as a Resident Engineer and lead critical transportation and infrastructure projects across the Sacramento region. You will operate both in the field and the office, using your technical expertise, leadership, and judgment to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and with the highest quality.

Responsibilities
  • Lead day‑to‑day construction activities, acting as the key problem‑solver and point of coordination.
  • Track progress, resolve field issues, and maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Lead weekly construction progress meetings, coordinate inspections, and manage RFIs, submittals, and contract change orders.
  • Evaluate extra work, review certified payrolls, prepare force account analyses, and assist with project closeout and claims resolution.
Qualifications
  • California‑licensed Civil Engineer with at least four years of highway construction experience in office engineering, roadway inspection, or both.
  • Familiarity with Caltrans Standard Specifications, Construction Manual, and systems such as LCS, iEWB, or CAS.
  • Experience with scheduling platforms (P6, P3, or MS Project) and general office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat).
  • Tech‑savvy, organized, detail‑oriented, decisive, and capable of solving field issues independently.
  • Strong communication, writing, and collaboration skills across staff, clients, contractors, and outside agencies.
  • Safety‑centric mindset; willing to work night shifts, weekends, and travel to project sites throughout California.
  • Industry certifications such as ACI Field Technician, QSP, or similar are an advantage.
