CONSTRUCTION SERVICES PRACTICE

Michael Baker International's Construction Services staff supports clients by acting as their trusted on-site agent through all phases of construction, from pre-design to close-out, by providing qualified construction managers, inspectors, constructability reviewers, schedulers, estimators and safety experts. As new technologies evolve throughout the construction industry, innovative ideas are required to maintain and deliver successful construction projects.

DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors in the Moon Township office. Under the direct supervision of the Project Supervisor, the Construction Inspector will monitor and document that the roadway and/or bridge project is being built in accordance with the plans and specifications. Responsibilities include:

  • Inspect various facets of work on bridge or roadway construction site
  • Take field measurements and perform calculations
  • Prepare relevant inspection reports
  • Verify that appropriate materials and construction processes are being used
  • Ensure that construction conforms to the project plans, specifications, and special provisions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • 1-4 years of experience working in a construction-related field
  • Previous experience working on PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike highway and/or bridge projects, preferred but not required
  • ACI Field Technician Certification, PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification, NECEPT Field Technician Certification, NICET Certification in Highway Construction, ECMS Wave 5 training, Materials Testing or Bridge Condition Inspection, and Troxler Nuclear Gauge Certification, are preferred but not required.
  • Proficient with iPad is preferred for PennDOT's ECMS and CDS/NeXtGen systems
  • Possess basic math skills necessary to perform computations for length, area, and volume
  • Availability to work various shifts, including night shift. Overtime is often required.
  • Position may require overnight travel and is subject to seasonal layoff
  • Position is subject to seasonal layoff.

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $29/hr to $31.67/hr based on experience and certifications. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
