Short Description

Bowman has an opportunity for a Transportation Construction Inspector to join our team in Lincoln, NE.

Purpose

Perform bridge and highway inspections to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform work under moderate supervision; receive direction on moderately complex assignments.
  • Liaise with project managers concerning pertinent findings of inspections.
  • Perform inspections for transportation construction projects to ensure they are completed in accordance with plans, specifications and codes.
  • Document project assignments accurately.
  • Prepare inspection and contractor performance reports for project records.
  • Maintain project documents and files.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of DOT experience as a Technical Assistant 2 (TA‑2) or higher; or two (2) years minimum of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience; or four (4) years minimum of highway or bridge construction, non‑highway or bridge inspection, or highway or bridge design experience.
  • NICET certification – a plus.
  • DOT Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification – a plus.
  • NECEPT Bituminous Field Certification – a plus.
  • Valid state driver's license; ability to pass a motor vehicle check or reliable transportation to/from office and/or project site strongly preferred.

Physical Demands & Working Environment
  • Primarily outdoor work, may include adverse weather, varying temperatures, noise, and hazards.
  • Mobility around a job/construction site: walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, kneeling; wearing required PPE.
  • Primarily local travel during the business day; some out‑of‑area or overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional indoor office environment with bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, traffic.
  • Mobility around an office environment.
  • Frequent use of standard office equipment.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs; pushing or pulling up to 20 lbs; reaching outward or above shoulder.
