Qualifications

  • 2+ years of highway or bridge construction inspection experience.
  • Minimum PennDOT Transportation Construction Inspector Level II criteria.

Responsibilities

Our Allentown-based Construction Management Team seeks Transportation Construction Inspection professionals for projects within PennDOT's District 5-0 (Lehigh, Carbon, Monroe, Berks, and Schuylkill Counties).


The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures during and after construction to ensure structural quality, safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes. This position is not eligible for employer sponsorship except for TN visa classification.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal and safety standards.

  • Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.

  • Measure dimensions and verify levels, alignments, and elevations to ensure compliance with plans and codes.

  • Maintain record documents and make field notes and computations.


Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Perform other related duties as assigned.






Required Skills

  • Computer proficiency

  • Active driver's license and reliable vehicle

    • Must pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening



Preferred Skills



  • Certifications such as NICET Level II or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction

  • NECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field Technician

  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician

  • CDS V-3 and/or ECMS Wave 5 experience






Required Experience

  • Minimum PennDOT Transportation Construction Inspector Level II criteria; high school diploma or equivalent (or experience)

  • 2+ years of highway or bridge construction inspection experience


Preferred Experience



  • Associate or bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management

  • Previous PennDOT or PA Turnpike inspection experience

Working Conditions


Fieldwork involving bending, kneeling, standing, lifting objects up to 25 lbs, in various weather conditions.
