Job summary

Stanley Consultants is seeking an Engineer-In-Training 1 for our Transportation Construction Services Department in Salt Lake City. You will participate in design and plan development for roadway and infrastructure projects for UDOT, counties, cities, and local highway districts, plus field inspections and construction records management.

The ideal candidate holds a four-year civil engineering degree, some engineering or construction experience, and strong communication and plan-reading skills.

Qualifications

• Four year degree in civil engineering.
• Engineering or construction experience preferred.
• Experience with Utah DOT field engineering preferred.
• Strong visualization, communication, and documentation skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet).
• Ability to read plans and specs, including UDOT standards.
• Ability to mentor others and distribute knowledge.
• UDOT certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reports and coordinate progress meetings with contractor and owner.
• Manage the shop drawing review process and certify contractor payrolls.
• Review subconsultant agreements (MBE/WBE/DBE) and draft Stanley agreements.
• Monitor internal project budgets.
• Ensure Stanley staff compliance with the Group Safety manual.
• Review and submit monthly billings; analyze and negotiate change orders.
• Maintain active client communications and assist with marketing and proposals.
